의식의 흐름을 따라...

오늘 드디어 사사기 1-2장의 내용으로 진도를 뽑았다. 이스라엘이 가나안 땅을 온전히 정복할 수 없었던 이유에 대한 하나님의 diagnosis인 2장 1-3절의 내용을 이야기하고 있었는데, 

Judges 2:1–3 (ESV)

1 Now the angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, “I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I swore to give to your fathers. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you, 2 and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? 3 So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.”

문득 호기심 발동. 학생들에게 질문을 던져본다. "Do you know who the angel of the Lord" is?" 혹시 알까 싶어서. 

굉장히 puzzled 된 표정의 아이들. 답을 본문에서 찾아보자고 했다. "The angel of the Lord"가 qoutation안의 내용을 말하고 있는데, 3인칭 단수로 표현하지 않고, 1인칭 단수 "I"로 말하고 있다는 사실을 주목해보라고. 

"I brought you up from Egypt"라고 말하는데 "Who brought them out of Egypt?"라고 물어보니, "God"이라고 대답한다. "Then, who is the angel of the Lord?"

아이들의 눈이 휘둥그레진다. ㅎㅎㅎ 귀여워. 

아무래도 내일은 the angel of the Lord에 대한 수업을 해야 할 것 같으다. 수업 방향이 내 의식의 흐름을 따라 곁가지를 너무 많이 치는 것은 아닌지...
